Why a Tech-Savvy Realtor Is Important

The modern generation of home buyers is doing most of its buying online. According to a  recent survey by the National Association of Realtors, 2017 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 79 percent of homebuyers say the first step they took in the home buying process was to look online at properties for sale.

With that in mind, finding yourself a tech-savvy realtor is a hugely important step in selling your home for the four reasons we’ve set out below:

Ease of Access

Modern life works at a hectic pace for most of us. There are always responsibilities to be taken care of, such as kids, work, social lives, and other obligations.

The pace of modern life means that people are now looking for new properties whenever they get the chance, from the treadmill to the coffee shop, and using mobile devices to do it.

If your realtor isn’t tech-savvy enough to have a strong online presence, then they won’t be accessible to this new generation of home buyers.

However, if they have a good website, are active on social media,  can be contacted by messenger, network through LinkedIn etc, then they are far more accessible and your home listing will be as well.

An Attractive Website

A good tech-savvy realtor will have a comprehensive website that allows you to research neighborhoods, communities, and properties.

Research is often the first step in buying a new home and if your realtor offers the ability to do that kind of research, then their website is going to draw more traffic.

The more traffic they draw, the more likely they will be able to sell your house.

Google penalizes websites that are not designed to respond to viewing on an array of devices with a poor ranking, so your realtor should also have a good understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Good Online Marketing

How effective your realtor is at selling your property is directly proportional to the number of channels they can use to advertise your property.

A good realtor will be able to use digital tools to maximize exposure for their sellers’ properties and provide access to potential buyers.

Using a huge range of platforms, social media sites, and advertising options means your realtor can get the word out about your property and use those sites and platforms to highlight all the potential benefits of your property using SEO optimised keywords and hi-res images.

Understanding of the Industry

There are a lot of questions when it comes to selling your property. Some of the most common include:

  • When should you list your house for sale?
  • Does home staging help?
  • Which renovations will boost your home’s value?
  • What is the best way to prepare for your home inspection?
  • How can you make a first-time home purchase less daunting?
  • How can you evaluate a school district before moving into a new community?

While you can’t expect your realtor to have a quick answer to all of your questions, you can expect the tech-savvy ones to have looked at the search volumes for different property related questions and have developed a convincing answer for them.
