5 Ways to Know If You Can Trust Your Realtor

Putting the sale of your home in the hands of a realtor is a matter of trust. Selling a house is a huge financial and personal move and you need to believe that your realtor has your best interests at heart, which can be difficult with someone you’ve never met before. To help you make that decision, we’ve put together five ways to know if you can really trust your realtor.

A Unique Marketing Approach

If, alsong with all the standard marketing techniques for selling a house, your new realtor comes up with some new and innovative ideas that are specific to your home, then that’s a good sign that you can trust them.

Thinking innovatively and outside the box takes effort and commitment, which means that your new realtor is invested in selling your property and getting the best deal for you.

Commitment and the desire to go above and beyond for you is the kind of realtor you want on your team.

Knowledge of Your Neighborhood

When you are speaking with a prospective realtor, feel free to ask them some questions about what they know about your neighborhood, how many homes they have sold in the area, and what thoughts they have about the way the area will evolve in the future.

This is important because, to price your home correctly, the realtor will need to have an in-depth understanding of the area and its future.

Customers who are coming to look at the home will almost certainly ask similar questions and a realtor who has those answers ready is one you can trust.

Good References

Being taken on as a realtor is the same as any other job, you should expect to be asked for references.

While online reviews are great for getting a snapshot of how good your realtor is, being able to actually talk with someone who has worked with them in the past is even more important.

Ideally, you’ll want to know if the realtor took actions like pressuring the homeowners to lower the price of their home or how well they were able to negotiate with prospective buyers.

A Strong Online Presence

The vast majority of people do their house buying online. As part of your vetting process, you should look at your realtor’s online presence.

How good is their website, what does their LinkedIn profile look like, are they connected with many other realtors in the area, are there any reviews on their profile?

If you can’t find much in the way of information on your realtor online or a strong online presence, then that means prospective buyers won’t be able to find them, or your home, either.

A Professional Attitude

Professionalism is one of the key aspects of a successful realtor. They need to have a good ability with people in order to negotiate properly and they need to present themselves in an orderly and professional manner in order to reflect well on your house.

If your realtor can’t be bothered to turn up on time, dress presentably, or conduct themselves professionally when they meet you, it’s an indication that they won’t do it when they meet prospective buyers.

If they are highly professional with you, you can normally trust them to be the same when showing buyers around your home.
